Saint-Eustache, April 17, 2023 –  Today, Sercan Palliative Care Home inaugurates its new facilities.

The new Desjardins wing includes the addition of five large, private, quiet and warm rooms for people at the end of life, as well as essential common areas for residents, their families and their entourage, as well as nursing and administrative staff. The expansion allowed for the organization of a new guardhouse that was properly equipped and better located, as well as the complete renovation and upgrading of existing rooms and administrative offices.

“When I first got involved with Maison Sercan, I knew we were going to change lives. Today, I am very pleased to be able to say that we have achieved our goal of creating a human, accessible, warm House that offers exceptional quality care to our community,” said René Goyer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sercan Foundation.

“Desjardins Group is proud to contribute $400,000 to this project through its Fonds du Grand Mouvement. This financial support is connected to the needs of communities and has a positive impact on the lives of people at the end of life and their families,” said Michel Cantin, Vice-President, Development and Partnerships, Western Quebec. In addition, $100,000 has been granted by the Caisse Desjardins de Saint-Eustache–Deux-Montagnes through its Community Development Fund. “In a context where the aging of the population is on the rise, it is fundamental to offer more services to people at the end of life in order to accompany them with dignity, and this, in the best possible conditions. Our commitment is clear: Desjardins wants to support this collective solution that focuses on mutual aid and kindness. Ultimately, the entire region benefits from this structuring project.”

Maison Sercan now offers twelve private rooms, accessible to patients to reside in a quiet and warm environment. The team takes care of each patient and accompanies them with their families to allow them to live their last moments in dignity and comfort.
